| Clearing the "Temporary Internet
Files" The Temporary Internet
Files are files that the computer stores as you are surfing around the web. The computer
stores them so that it doesn't have to be loading new files all the time. This is a good
thing, but you should erase these every once and awhile, since it tends to speed things
up. AND DON'T PANIC...you can't screw anything up by erasing them. There isn't anything
important that you can erase by doing this, just know that once you do this, you can't use
the "back" option to get back to websites you've already visited.
- On the top of the Browser, go to
"VIEW"
- Scroll down to "INTERNET
OPTIONS"
- Mid-way through there is the heading
"TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES"
- Click on "DELETE"
- And yes you are sure, so click
"OK"
|
|
| Clearing the "History" The computer also keeps track of the addresses
(URL's) that you have typed into the browser. The only 'bad' thing that can happen by
doing this, is that you need to make sure that you have added any sites that you want to
get back to quickly to your "FAVORITES" list.
- On the top of the Browser, go to
"VIEW"
- Scroll down to "INTERNET
OPTIONS"
- At the bottom there is the heading
"INTERNET HISTORY"
- Click on "DELETE"
- And yes you are sure, so click
"OK"

| A slow connection, or nothing at all Sometimes you may notice that your connection is
really slow, or isn't doing anything at all. You can try to get around this by
shutting off the modem and dialing up again. Sometimes, a new connection will fix
things. |
|
| You dial up...but can't connect This may not be your fault. Try again, and if nothing is
happening, or you are getting disconnected call the Sprint Canada help line. It may be
that there is a problem on their end. Otherwise, they can help you figure out what the
problem is. |
|
| Getting disconnected by Sprint
If you are staying at a webpage, and there isn't
any activity for a long while (i.e. you are doing a crossword puzzle or reading a long
page) Sprint might go ahead and cut off the connection. To stop this from happening, every
few minutes or so, you can go and check for new email messages through your browser. This
is activity, so the connection will probably hold. On the other hand, sometimes you may
get disconnected for no reason at all. If that happens, just click on to a new link,
and the computer will begin to dial up for you. |
